News from Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) New research shows that pasture-fed animals may produce meat that has "enhanced health benefits" compared with grainfed meat. Researchers from the Chicago-based Institute of Food Technologists found that ruminants fed a grass and forage-based diet "produce a more desirable fatty acid composition than those fed grain and offer potential to be further enhanced by using specific plant species," with higher levels of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids.
